East Sabah

3,558 km of newly acquired in addition to 2,676 km of reprocessed 2D data has shed new light on exploration of this frontier area that is currently open for application as part of the 2024 Malaysian Bid Round

This frontier area has only two wells drilled with other nearby wells frequently invalid tests due to poor legacy seismic data quality. There have been several oil and gas discoveries in the next basin to the North, and good intersections of Mid Miocene carbonate reservoir with gas shows that are strong suggestions the petroleum systems could also be working here. The new data has also highlighted new play potential here in the form of turbidites in the more central part of the basin.
